Innsbruck has hosted the Olympic Winter Games twice (1964 and 1976). The city and its surroundings are worth visiting offering lots of highlights, no matter if you are looking for sports adventures, cultural sites or shopping centres
Innsbruck's old city centre
(about 1.5 km from our hotel) Discover historical buildings from the 15. and 16. century forming the old city centre. In particular the golden roof, the Helblinghaus, the Imperial Palace, the city tower, the Ottoburg, the dome, the provincial theatre and the court church are worth visiting.
Museums
(all about 1-5 km from our hotel) Explore the city's history and fine art works from ancient times up to the present in Innsbruck's museums. Most known are the Tyrolean state museum Ferdinandeum, the museum of Tyrolean folk art, the Tirol Panorama, the Zeughaus Arsenal Museum, the Kaiserjägermuseum, the bell museum, the Alpine club Museum, the Tyrolean railway museum, the museum of classical archaeology or the anatomical museum.
Ambras Castle
(ca 15 minutes by car) Situated at the outskirts of Innsbruck you can visit Schloss Ambras, a magnificent Rennaissance castle. Discover the Spanish hall, the chamber of art and curiosities, armouries and a portrait gallery. Relax in the beautiful English garden.
Rathausgalerien
(about 30 minutes walking distance) In Innsbruck you can find various shopping possibilities in the old town centre as well as on Maria-Theresien-Straße. Do not miss the Rathausgalerien and Kaufhaus Tyrol, both offering great shopping oppurtunities in a nice atmosphere
Alpenzoo
(about 5 minutes to walk to the Hungerburg cable car) The Alpine zoo is an ideal destination for an excursion allowing a marvellous panoramic view of Innsbruck. In this zoo, which is the highest one in Europe, you will find more than 2000 animals of 150 species illustrating the wildlife of the Alps.
Cable car to the Hafelekar (2334 m)
(about 5 minutes to walk) First up to the Hungerburg, then with 2 further cable cars up to the Seegrube and then up to the Hafelekar (2334 m) where you will enjoy a unique view over the Alps surrounding Innsbruck, an unforgettable panorama.
Olympic buildings
As a former Olympic town (1964 and 1976) there are a lot of impressive buildings in and around Innsbruck such as the Bergiselstadion (ski jump), the Olympic bobsleigh (fun passenger rides available in summer and winter) and the Eisstadion (ice skating).
Swarovski Crystal Worlds
(about 15 km ) Internationally renowned three dimensional adventure museum in Wattens with crystals, light and sound designs, created by the multi-media artist André Heller.
King Ludwig´s Castels in Bavaria
(about 1.5 hours by car from Innsbruck) Visit King Ludwig‘s Castles (Cinderella‘s Castle) Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau and the village of Oberammergau.
Sports-entertainments - Skiing in summer and winter
In winter you can enjoy skiing in Innsbruck at many different locations. The Stubaier Glacier offers you excellent skiing conditions also in summer (about 1 hour‘s drive from Innsbruck)

You have a wide choice of sports here in Innsbruck all year round. In summer you can do wild water rafting, climbing, hiking, mountain-biking, summer bobsleigh, swimming. In winter preferred sports are skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, ice skating, bobsleigh and many more.
